An opening night party for a new show, This Campaign is YUUUGE! Cartoonists Tackle the 2016 Presidential Race, will be held at the ToonSeum on May 27th from 7 to 10 pm.

Work by the nation’s leading editorial cartoonists will be on display at The ToonSeum, Pittsburgh’s museum of cartoon art, in a show that examines the current presidential campaign from an often critical reference point. The show opens May 20th and will run through Aug. 28th.

“If 2015-16 was a nightmare for those who desired civility and principle in their elections, it was a dream for America’s editorial cartoonists,” said Tom Waseleski, former Editorial Page Editor at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “From Trump’s hair to Clinton’s pantsuits, from “Lyin’ Ted” to “Little Marco,” the nation’s leading satirical artists took full advantage. How could they not?”

This Campaign is YUUUGE! is a collection of the best campaign cartoons by American political cartoonists, both liberal and conservative-leaning, whose work regularly appears in major daily newspapers and online. The show features more than 50 original cartoons, prints and sketches on this year’s race for president, including work by Pulitzer Prize winners Jack Ohman, Signe Wilkinson, Joel Pett, Matt Wuerker, Ann Telnaes, Matt Davies, Steve Sack and many more.

"Ross Perot was an amazing gift to editorial cartoonists covering the '92 and '96 presidential campaigns," recalls Rob Rogers, editorial cartoonist, ToonSeum President and curator of this exhibit. "I remember thinking back then that there could never be another wacky, billionaire outsider candidate who would be this much fun to draw. Boy, was I wrong!"

Whether you are a fan of Hillary, Bernie, Ted, Jeb, Marco or The Donald, there is something for everyone in this exhibit. The images offer pointed wit, biting insight and, mercifully, a sugar coating of laughs to help this bitter political year go down more easily. Now there’s a way to make America great again.

An opening reception, which includes admission to the Captain America opening as well, is scheduled for Friday, May 27th at 7pm, at the Toonseum in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District.

Party admission is $10 and includes light snacks and beverages.
